Mysterious germ re-appears

After about six days of a truly miserable sore throat in late June, I woke up this morning with another sore throat. As of 3:00 pm CST, it hasn't abated. Drat.

I can't figure out what's causing them. Before this summer, I didn't have a major-league sore throat since 1999. I don't have allergies, and change my a/c filter religiously. Perhaps I should crank up my HEPA air cleaner again.

If I can't shift this in a day or two, I'm seriously considering biting the bullet and consulting an otolaryngologist. You know, an ear/nose/throat doctor.

In the meantime, my plans to snag a motorcycle have been delayed by a month, leaving me frustrated. While I decided to behave and roll over my Snoopy Borg's 401k funds into an IRA, I decided to cash in the Mystery Annuity/Pension, biting the tax bullet. (The reason I call it the Mystery Annuity is that I never knew I had it until after I left the Borg. I couldn't believe I had overlooked it, and after about 1/2 an hour of digging through my filing cabinet, I realized I had zero paperwork regarding the pension.)

But now they tell me they won't give me the annuity money until October. Since I signed a waiver regarding 30-day waiting periods, I don't get this. Maybe they just need to go around and collect the money from various Board directors.

Melina's price: 50% discount

I have been drooling over this Lise Charmel collection (Paris Frivole) for over a year. Thankfully an online retailer finally put it on sale. I snagged the waist cincher/garter thingy earlier today, during my lunch hour, and am now searching for the matching bra in the ever-elusive 38C.

Wardrobe malfunction and resulting photo op

Last night I journeyed to darkest Mesquite and met up with some fellow cat ladies. Barbara was celebrating the end of her chemo treatments, but she didn't feel like driving far, so we went to her neck of the woods and met up at the local Chili's.

While in the bar, several of us noticed a 250-pound bar patron with an unfortunate choice of wardrobe. Of course, those with smart phones took photos like the one below.

I'm afraid I was not able to improve the photo in Photoshop, but you get the drift.

Hope it doesn't spoil your lunch or dinner.
